KPMG 360 Apprentice. Rotate around the different business areas, audit, tax and advisory. The role varies depending on where you are in the business. Within audit, you are heavily involved in client work on a daily basis, speaking with clients, attending client site. Within tax, there isn't much value to the work you do, from my experience. It is hard to get involved with tax unless you have a relevant qualification. I'd say I was roughly 75% utilised since I joined.
AAT Level 3. CPR training course. I have learnt how technology plays a big part in the future.
Overall, I'd say I the programme is ok. The company is fantastic to work for, however, being managed by a central team is detrimental to me personally. The programme does not meet my expectations, it was advertised that we would get a choice where we go inline with business need. However, it seems the only business need for a lower grade staff with no qualifications is audit. Therefore, they shouldn't have called it a 360 'rotational' programme as it is impossible to get into advisory.
In audit, very valued. there is always a heavy need for lower grade staff. Overall, with the company the only reason I feel valued is that they are getting their money back for the new apprenticeship levy. Again, by my team I feel valued because I am good at what I do. But, I feel undervalued by the central team I'm managed by.
I have had a bad experience of organisation so far. e.g. Our first exam was 3 weeks after we joined and we weren't set up with everything we needed. The wider firm hasn't fully engaged with the apprentices and there I think that is a big reason why it doesn't work how it should.
BBP is our training provider and we get a lot of support. However, we have started doing online learning and self study which I don't feel is as beneficial as going to college.
Centrally, not much. It seems everything we do is not good enough. We never get praised we only get told off.
Cannot afford to move out. However, it is good for the qualifications we get as well.
Yes.
Yes
You don't come out of university with lots of debt. You're getting paid, gaining experience, and coming out with a better regarded qualification.
Be resilient.
