Project Management & Programming Apprentice, Two days a week on a construction site in London being a site engineer and conducting site inspections. Two days a week working on project controls, exporting and importing expenses and timesheets. One day a week day release.
Communication - have to liaise with contractors, clients and team members nationwide and globally to be able to get some work done. Time Management - I have to be organised only spending two days a week on each project i'm on means i am restricted on time so being more organised has helped this.
I like coming in to work each day, i have gained friends which i can be social not just in work out of work also. My managers on both projects help with me and ask if i ever need any help make sure they know.
I am always involved in meetings and commissioning meetings on both projects and feel very included on both projects whether it is in the office or on the construction site.
Very well, had a couple of months before the degree actually started to get some knowledge about a degree i may of been unsure of in some areas. i have 6 weekly reviews with the organisation running the program.
frequently contacted by the university and have 6 weekly reviews at the office i work in. i have an individual tutor who respond quickly. there is always someone i can ask and i can speak to other students to.
From my manager, to other work colleagues i always have someone to turn to. There are weekly catch up meetings every friday to see if my needs are being met.
I am paid more than i was expecting to be paid, which is obviously a bonus, and all expenses are paid by the company when travelling to site and university.
There are many clubs and social activities that frequently go on with Arup, such as ski trips etc. There are end of month drinks and anytime a big project is awarded to us we celebrate as either a company or a team.
Yes
They are a good, employee owned company with lots of internal benefits and good people in the company.
It can be slow to get into the company, but once you are in, it is very fast paced and you always have interesting work to do.
