I currently work in the department for business energy and industrial strategy. My role involves working in the communications team. I am given a lot of responsibility in my role and allowed to take lead on the work I do.
I have learnt and developed various skills since joining the department. I believe the most important skill I have learnt is public speaking. And the skill I have developed the most is my customer service through dealing with stakeholders.
I enjoy my programme a lot. The team I work in is very friendly and understanding of my commitments. I didn't have any difficulty in adjusting to my role and working in this department has surpassed my expectations.
I feel very appreciated by my peers in the department. I am given regular positive feedback on my performance and ways I can improve. My manager ensures I have enough work to do and involves me in team projects.
My programme is very well organised. My manager has made sure I have enough time to balance my priorities between work and my apprenticeship. This means if I ever have too much work from either side I can feel comfortable in telling my manager.
I receive a high level of support from my training provider. My tutor will meet me regularly at work, once or twice a month. on top of this we keep constant contact through emails and phone.
I am very satisfied with the level of support I receive from my employer. As mentioned before my Manager always insist on making sure I am not overwhelmed with work from either side.
My salary matches up very well with the work I do. I feel like I am paid for the work I do. It also meets my needs in terms of living costs. But there's always room for more!
My department is a very social place to work in. there are always events, volunteering days, social gatherings etc going on during the weekend. Invites will be sent through emails so everyone is included.
Yes
The civil service is a very accepting place to work in. I have never felt left out since working here, and I feel like the work I do is appreciated by my colleagues.
The application is targeted towards your competencies. Remember to focus on highlighting valuable experiences in your life, whether these be in the workplace or outside. And to use the STAR model.
