  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • KPMG 360 Apprentice During the first 3 years I will rotate around the different service lines of the business while completing the AAT qualification. After this I will decide on an area where I would like to specialise and do the relevant chartered qualification for that department. At the moment I am in audit however I have also been in private client tax advisory and technology solutions. Day to day in audit I visit client sites and assist with the audit work as any other new joiner would.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has been very enjoyable so far, I have been able to experience the different areas that KPMG has to offer and I have had the chance to work on a lot of interesting client engagements.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I do feel valued by KPMG. You can always discuss any concerns with your superiors and colleagues and I do feel as if my voice is heard and cared about. There are also days every so often where we will be taken out of normal work for a day and participate in forums and team building activities. These are really good as you feel that the company genuinely cares about you and that they are not just solely focussed on work.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well structured, I definitely feel like I know what the path is for the future. We were given a week long induction so we could learn more about the company as a whole and we always receive extra training before and during our rotations.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training provider does provide us with good materials during our studies and we can always contact them with any queries. However there are times where the provider can be a bit poor, especially with marking any online practice assessments.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We have a dedicated support team who are always contactable for any queries or concerns that we may have. The management team is quite large and there are different people to contact for specific things. In addition to this, each department has a great support system in place so you can contact them as well. Your voice is definitely heard and your wellbeing is genuinely cared about

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is more than enough to cover my costs and have enough left over to waste on things I don't need.

    7/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are a lot of volunteering and social responsibility events that you can get involved in as well as recruitment and outreach events. You are given 6 days a year to use for these kind of events.

    8/10

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • If you are interested in a career in business/ finance then there is no better place as you are gaining experience, getting paid and also enjoy yourself.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Always ask lots of questions as they are the only way that you can learn. No one expects you to know anything when you join as they were in exactly the same place as you. During interviews and the application process, just be yourself. That is all they want to see and it will help a lot.
