Dependent on department in which you are in as KPMG360 is a rotational programme. Typical tasks might include research, calculations, audit work, drafting reports, etc. Internally, interactions will be with a range of staff, ranging from other apprentices/graduates to directors and partners. External interactions will depend on department also - for example, if in Tax, you might liaise with HMRC. If in Pensions Admin, you might speak to members of pension schemes regarding their benefits. If in Audit, you will need to request documents to support the audit.
Time management, proactivity, communication skills, etc. Technical skills, depending on the department. Internal training is provided. External training includes AAT L3 in first year, which then progresses through to chartered level in desired area (e.g. ACA, CTA, FIA)
The work is generally interesting and stimulating, but depends on the department as everyone will have a preference on types of work they enjoy. Teams are uniformly helpful, supportive and kind.
Most managers will show their appreciation for the work you've done and there is an internal reward scheme called Encore!. Other graduates/apprentices frequently collaborate and acknowledge the achievements of one another.
It is well structured but at the same time flexible. Apprentices can rotate for 3 years (or just 1 and specialise in either actuarial or tech). There is also a fast track route which allows you to reach your chosen specialism in less than 3 years. There is an induction for a week at the start of the programme, which is a good opportunity to meet others from your intake and to familiarise yourself with the firm.
Time is taken off for study at college and there is a dedicated KPMG team at BPP that regularly checks on us after a course, to ensure we are progressing in our studies and are ready for exams. Teaching is also generally of a high quality.
There is a great deal of support provided. All apprentices have a Performance Manager, which deals with everyday issues and provides pastoral support; a People Leader, who helps you with longer term issues; and a buddy, who is usually another more senior apprentice/graduate who helps with adjusting to work, small work-related problems, etc.
Very well - one of the higher paying apprenticeships, high above the living wage.
Team socials are held often. Opportunities for development are plentiful. Everyone is given 5 days a year to volunteer.
Yes
KPMG has a lot to offer for an apprentice leaving school/college, but what stands out most for me is the people, how kind and supportive everyone is and that plenty of banter goes on at work! A "work hard, play hard" environment with a vast array of opportunities - truly a great place to begin a career.
Plenty of preparation! Mainly interview prep (questions are mainly competency based) and psychometric test practice.
