IT apprenticeship, SM scheduling team managing tasks and changes required on the system. Also managed IT order requests working as a trainee under another team member.
learnt ibm tivoli work scheduler as well as how to use hp service manager to assign tasks and changes to my workload. learnt the rigorous checking processes required to make changes on a large system
the team was extremely friendly and very willing to give me advice and support on any work I had been assigned. My trainer in particular was very informative and guided me well.
I left to pursue my other options however the general manager was very facilitating in helping me move on, they allowed me to work on the typical tasks fairly soon and trusted me with some important tasks also.
the mentoring supplied to me was solid, however the general apprenticeship programme was a bit disorganised and all the different trainees had been assigned to separate teams where we rarely had chances to interact with each other.
My trainer/mentor guided me well and gave enough help but not too much so I could still remain self sufficient. He also remained patient if I made any mistakes and I appreciated being involved with activities with the team outside of work.
Manager was very lenient in terms of managing me and gave me support and useful criticism regarding any mistake I made. Also gave me a smooth transition out of the programme
the salary was sufficient to cover my daily costs as well as provide additional savings, it was very satisfactory considering I had just left highschool and didn't have a university degree yet.
There were apprentice specific activities which gave guidance regarding the future of staying in the llyods group. My team also had regular meals together and remained in contact outside of work
Yes
Was a good experience and gave me useful insight into what I wanted to pursue with my own future. The pay was good especially compared to other apprenticeship programmes available.
Just to be prepared with teamwork and making sure you know your cv well. The group challenges in the interview processes are also important for you to shine amongst the others.
