I am a Team Support in the Global Philanthropy and Engagement Department at Bloomberg. My day to day includes sourcing, promoting and organising events for our employees internally, to raise awareness of the charities that the company supports and also, to increase the engagement with charity. Additionally, I support my colleague who manages the Education partnerships between Bloomberg and local education bodies throughout EMEA.
I most definitely have both developed existing skills and learnt new skills. Alongside my Level 3 BTEC in Business Administration, I felt that I have grown personally and professionally. I am now more confident, communicate more effectively and the my networks has now broaden beyond significantly.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme. The support network that is available at Bloomberg is definitely commendable and helpful. It makes you feel at home very soon, and the team that I work with is the cherry on the top when I get in the office. The company has a perfect balance between being professional and also, relaxed enough for people to have a casual conversation in the office; so as long as work is being done! I'm enjoying the experience to a very large extent, to answer the question directly.
The process that Bloomberg takes you through as a new hire, it alones shows that they value you. You start off by understanding how things work, to then inputting your ideas which is then acted upon because they've realised that you understand the company. I've even suggested something that has been acted upon! I feel very pleased, to answer your question in a sentence
The programme is very structured. I was induced to the company, then I had the previous apprentice train me. Her explanation was clear and to the point and I felt very comfortable, asking those questions that I would thought to be a stupid question- there is no such thing btw! If I need any support, my line manager is always there to reach out to and we work through skills that I would like to develop.
For the training part of the apprenticeship, I visit a centre where we have a teacher explaining the course to us, if there is a lack of understanding. We set realistic goals to meet, so that I can get through the course comfortably, and stress-free, whilst keeping on top of my corporate work.
The support that I receive from my employer is next to none. I have a regular meeting with my line manager to talk about my progress, and set goals to enhance my personal and professional development. They have been extremely supportive of 1 particular problem that I faced and they are genuinely positive in terms of my support.
As a young person, I genuinely feel like the salary that I receive comfortably cover my costs. I really can't complain about that.
Within my role, 100%. I've been to many events where I've met members of Parliament, I've visited Starbucks, and I have even volunteered with different charities that the company supports. I am even apart of the highly reputable Bloomberg Basketball Team! I can't ask for more. If you wish the get involved in opportunities outside of work, you most certainly can!
Yes
The support system, the experience and the pay package all ties into an extremely phenomenal milestone that you will not regret today.
I'd say to them, be bold in your on boarding process. Don't be afraid to reach out to people. You are here because you deserve to be here and once that thought is settles, you will propel to great things in a very short period of time!
