  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I worked for Blue Peter and was largely responsible for children's correspondence - opening mail, and selecting the best artwork to be shown on TV. There was also a competition running at the time, which I helped to organise the entries. Once a week I worked as a studio runner for the live broadcast.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have now have good runner experience to add to my CV - particularly with looking after talent and contributors. I learnt a vast amount about how live broadcasting works.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It did get rather mundane day-to-day in the office, but I greatly enjoyed the studio days (although they were hard work). Everyone there was great to work with.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BBC?
  • Yes I did feel valued. I expect that if I wasn't there, they would have suffered as a result, which isn't really what work experience should be, but made me feel much more useful.

  • The programme was very well structured, the BBC know what they're doing with work experience. There were a few times, however, when there wasn't much for me to do.

  • She checked in with a few times, but not very much. Unfortunately I never received my feedback from her at the end.

  • It was unpaid. No expenses even.
