I was part of the Rothschild work experience placement in their private wealth division. During this time I attended a number of workshops to learn more about the private wealth industry, as well as producing a presentation on a potential new investment. Alongside this I helped out with a variety of tasks for the team I had been placed in.
I learnt more about the industry, gaining a variety of tips as to how to be successful in the world of private wealth, as well as improving my research, networking and presenting skills through the tasks I conducted.
I really enjoyed the programme. My team were friendly and I really got on well with the other people on the placement. The work I was doing was interesting, and I learnt a great deal whilst I was there.
I felt reasonably valued whilst there as my team allowed me to get involved in the projects they were working on, and the presentations we gave were attended by some senior figures in the
It was very well structured. We would spend the mornings in workshops and learning more about the company, and then in the afternoons we were left to work on our projects or whatever our team members gave us.
Lots of support provided. The person running the programme was only an email away, and most of the people running the training sessions came from within the private wealth department, so their desks were in the same room as ours.
We were well supported, as they were happy to come and answer any questions we had. They even invited us to things such as the morning briefing to get a better sense of what it is like to work there.
Travel expenses were paid for, but it was otherwise unpaid. However, this was perfectly fine as it was only for a week and I had a place to stay at in London. The offices were easy to get to and there were lots of food outlets nearby.
As this was only for a week, there were not any particular opportunities outside of the structured week. However, speaking to new graduates there appear to be lots of activities organised by the company if you are there longer.
Yes
Hugely informative and really interesting week. Everyone there was really friendly, approachable and engaging. It was great to be involved on real projects, working as part of one of the teams in the division.
There was no formal application other than sending in some details. You don't get a particularly specific sense of what you get up to until you arrive there but you are made to feel quickly welcome.
