  • Working in a large corporate company Earning money It is a lot harder than expected but it is good to be pushed Good culture within the business

  • The occasional recognition Some times we are left on our own to try and cope which can be challenging when it is still a new job Valued within the company but not always by those on our team or by training team

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Training is often but sometimes disorganised, could be improved The support isn't great, we often are left to work on our own with no support There are a few meetings but could be more often so that our team leaders know how we are getting on

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There was not a lot of support at the beginning with original tutor but once the change it improved It was sometimes hard to know what had to be done to make sure everything was up to date Not always enjoyable but we knew it had to be done Could me supported more - more contact

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from manager could be improved - sometimes they get lost in their own work Just needs overall improvement, not always a lot of support, would be nice to have more contact

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is low but that is expected for Apprentice wage, it is liveable for our age group but any older and it would be a struggle to pay for a mortgage etc. Location is very expensive so would be better to have an improved salary for those in more expensive areas

  • A lot of company events and things to get involved in They offer gym memberships as well A fun work - social life

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is good to have on your CV and a good first company to work for to gain experience It is in the top 5 companies to work for so it is a lot of fun and well known in the industry


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Softcat?
  • Be yourself - they just want to know if you will fit into the culture, everything else comes after that The assessment days are not used to catch anyone out they are just used to get an idea of what people are like
