It involves me turning up before the shop opens, early including Sundays, to turn off all alarms and ensure that we haven't got any pending deliveries or stock that needs refilling. In the day, working behind the tills or on the floor restocking and providing advice to customers, and cleaning up and stock checking upon close.
Communication skills and how to deal with less informed customers such as boyfriend's after a girlfriend's present or a grandparent wanting kids advice.
A fair amount as it was easy to manage my time and decide what was needed to be done without too much pressure to be everywhere at once and customers were generally welcoming.
Mostly, as my student schedule proved difficult to negotiate at times where I had clashes but overall okay.

A lot - very understanding and never failed to remind me that they were in my shoes once.
A fair bit, not much communication however.
Not too badly since I am still a student so every pay pack is a bonus as I don't pay rent or food costs yet.
