Student Review

I was placed on the research team for ITV Meridian which allowed me to gain experience on what is required when researching news stories. I would be given a brief which gave me an idea of what was needed of a story angle and I did background research to provide for the news writers to use in broadcasts. I worked independently and in small groups.

I have learnt the importance of researching and working in a team. From working with small groups of people, I have gained interpersonal skills.

I enjoyed the programme for the most part. Sometimes it felt as though I had been forgotten but overall it was useful and a fun experience.

Towards the end of the programme, I feel I was valued more so after the team noticed my work and efforts.

The programme allows you to work in a work environment. It seems to be very well structured.

I didn't support much support, other than when I asked for help. Once I asked, I was given help and support.

I gained a lot of experience and useful skills from the work experience, which I can use further into my career.

Do not be afraid to ask for help when you need it because the people working around you will always want to help.
