For this work experience placement I spent time in a varied selection of areas, from web design, marketing, call centre and also higher management. My day to day experiences varied but I was given some deadlines and independence to carry out various tasks.
I developed web design skills but also got a varied introduction to many areas. I also learnt a lot of interpersonal skills as I spent time with customer care briefly.
I got a good feel of the whole organisation as I spent time in different departments. It had a nice atmosphere to work in and lots of friendly people. I was based in the Norwich office and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did feel a general culture about living for the weekend rather than properly enjoying the work but you can get that in many companies.
I felt like more effort and attention could have been put in for some aspects but on the whole I had a very good experience and would consider working there again.
It was well organised although some parts didn't feel as useful and could have been wasted time but you get that in every company. They are very keen on you knowing what it is the company are trying to achieve.
I felt I was sufficiently supported, easy place to ask for help when stuck and colleagues happy to give feedback.
The support was definitely in place, they were understanding about problems with health and there was a good support structure with colleagues and managers.
The salaries are pretty good but depends on the role and how skilled it is. If going for a mathematical job then it is pretty well payed.
There was a general culture of spending time together and opportunities to go out for a few drinks or spend time together outside of work. Norwich night life is pretty okay.
Yes
I think it can be a great opportunity and it seemed very easy to move around in the organisation. The pay is quite good for skilled jobs and a nice building to work in.
If you know anyone in Aviva I think that would be a help to apply for jobs as it gets you in the door. I found the application process to be quite easy and they seemed to be keen to take on new young talent.
