Assistant to manager at Active, whereby I was in charge of creating minutes for meetings as well designing a leaflet for the company.
I learnt a number of skills which have helped me with feedback on design, and how to professionally create and manage the minutes of important meetings.
The programme was fun and challenging. It tested my abilities to handle situations which I hadn't experienced before.
The company made me feel like I was playing an important role in the day to day runnings. They understood my level of experience and this allowed me to learn with fellow professionals and colleagues.
It was a fairly directed programme. I was told the day before in what the next day would bring ahead of me in terms of my roles and tasks.
The training provider arranged and organised my work experience through their facilities. It was a fairly fluid experience but it was often sometimes difficult to get in touch with them.
Upon arriving, the project leader helped me understood the innings of the company and what was required. If I was unsure of anything they would help me accordingly. I feel that the provider was not only patient but understanding of my needs.
The work experience was unpaid and my commuting to the job was handled by myself. Luckily the company wasn't too far out of town and only a short journey by road.
As it was sole work experience and with the office having select time slots for it's employees, there didn't appear to be many people around. It was a professional atmosphere, but to improve work relations it would have been great to have socials.
Yes
Work experience at Active was a good challenge, it helped me further better my understanding of local run health centres. It was an overall good experience that i feel many people can benefit from.
You don't have to be involved in fitness or design. Active provide great opportunities for student who want to further their career in handling and understand of the professionalisn of other likeminded companies out there.
