Worked on the tills, kept the shop floor tidy, making sure that the shelves were all stocked up, i had to check and make sure that everything complied with health and safety and allowed people to fill up their cars and make payments
I learnt how to deal with customers, how to work behind a till, the daily chores to make money and the training required to run a petrol station , as well as internal training such as the bakery
It was different from anything I had ever experienced, working close with a group of people for long periods of time made sure that everyone worked together to get the job done.
I felt like i belonged, even though i was only there for a few months, they paid me well and valued my opinion on stocking and the way things were ran.Made sure I was always happy and feeling okay
It was really organised, provided me with training for a number of weeks to make sure that i knew what i was doing, once i was trained i was aloud to run my own till, making sure that if i needed anything or any extra assistance it was always there
As much support as i needed, i was introduced to everybody so that i could ask anyone for help rather than just one set person.
At the end of the day and half way through they would always check on my progress and ask if i had any questions or queries.
It covered some costs, travel was covered by my parents, so it covered social and daily costs, the location was fairly close so it didnt really matter
There wasnt really any other opportunities or any other communitiy actions as the hours were quite long
Yes
I was generally looked after, all the people were really lovely and made sure i knew exactly what i was doing, they never made me do anything outside my comfort zone and staff were always really kind when i made a mistkae
Always ask questions if you are unsure, in the heat of a long queue just make sure you are working to the best of your ability and make sure you help everybody the best you can
