I was involved in volunteering at Kings College Hospital London, and was required to help out the elderly with tasks involved with social interaction. I would set up movies, board games and arts and crafts events. I also had to take them to the the bathroom, socialise with them, and bring them food.
I learnt team working and empathy skills at my work experience. This, as well as leadership roles, are just a few of the key things I picked up from my work experience and volunteering.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Very valued.
It was new so not as structured as I would have hoped, but nonetheless my involvement was over a few months so the evolution and progression of the programme was seen.
Quite a lot, I was required to attend multiple training days to have the basic skill set required to work there.
Lots.
I was not paid but they covered my travel fees and food, which was sufficient.
