I was an IT apprentice shadowing the full time employees working with internal employees on support. The role involved general PC fixing and networking issues.
General support and customer interaction as well as introductory training and some technical knowledge regarding networking and operating system setup and rollout
I enjoyed it because the team i worked with was very friendly and the company treated me well, they wanted me to learn on the job and the work was exciting.
My line manager was very kind and supportive when I had issues and I shadowed them to pick up their skills. Management was very large which meant it was hard to get feedback across.
There wasnt much structure as it relied on training on the job so I was mostly just thrown in and expected to learn from osmosis from my manager.
Lots of support was given from my trainers when they were around but there was not much scheduled training only some at the start so there could have been more.
I received a lot of support from people that were in contact with me eg team leader manager and team members, didn't talk to HR or non-customers much professionally.
The renumeration was very low but this was expected of an apprenticeship so I understood. For the going rate it was relatively competitive but only standard pay was given no extras.
I didn't do any community activity with Deloitte. There were some events organised from time to time in the office but nothing of major note.
Yes
I had a good time at deloitte and learnt a lot about a real tech environment and the team and experience I had was great.
People should study their IT GCSE and research before interviews and make sure your CV is up to scratch, things outside of school time help get through the first stage.
