We shadow trainees which means we get to experience the work of a solicitior in every department for example: employment department I had the task of drafting an employment contract for future employment and got a range of knowldge provided to me what the areas involve e.g: human rights and discrimnation to consider. We swap department every day to get an insight into other departments.
I have learnt many analytical skills, thinking outside the box and picking into detail which is essential for a good lawyer.
I absolutely enjoyed it I have learnt so many things that I didnt know existed e.g: in house legal team was very useful to see the different opportunities a legal career has.
I have made many contacts by showing an interest and engaging with other trainees. I have also offered my serivce.
very well strucutred presentations about law/different cases in the mornings practice law other sessions. the support is outstanding very useful information about different areas from university to future employment.
Very useful information about department gained different skills but mostly the knowldge provided about future proceedings was excellent. They were keen to help and very supportive.
We always swap department but every mentor has been very useful into telling us about different areas of involvment and are there to support us with problems but mostly guide us on the right track.
We get a re-payment for what we spent e.g: travel by Pathways to Law.
Yes, I've found out about the Gap year scheme, vacation schemes, training contract and understood the process of application.
Yes
I've learnt so much more than i would by reading a book. I managed to put my knowldge and skills into practice and felt a sense of achievement. Also made many contacts which offered me guidance into writing a personal statment or university talk.
Definitely apply, and always be eager to help or ask because thats how you get the useful information and your interest is able to come through.
