Engineering degree apprentice. One day a week at college working towards a degree in electronic and computer engineering. Four days working on site on engineering projects doing software, hardware and systems
There's a lot of professional development and opportunities to work on your soft skills as well as gain new skills such as leadership and management
It's varied and you can tailor the apprenticeship depending on your preferred type of engineering. You can give everything a go then specialise so what you do on a daily basis is enjoyable because you find what interests you
GE is a massive company. It's hard not to feel like a number when you look at the bigger picture. However you are valued within the apprenticeship and project managers value you
It's still a fairly new program and things are being tweaked but there's a distinct structure to each year of the apprenticeship so you know what you'll get out of it long term.
The training provider is Gloucestershire College, there is often problems and miscommunication. This is trying to be improved. The lecturers are ok.
We are often reminded of the huge support network available to us at GE. It is there when we need it.
Very well
Lots of volunteering opportunities
Yes
You gain a lot from the apprenticeship scheme. The salary is good, no student debts. Chance for progression within the company and option to work in different GE sectors
Get work experience there. it'll show you a lot about the company but also it'll help you decide if it's something you want to go into.
