I was in charge of managing the accounts for mini projects based for clients. This included programming the invoices and setting up code accounts within excel for ease of use by others members. I was allowed to assist certain projects as assistant manager to present our ideas to clientèle and the board of the company.
The importance of coding for those who need specified algorithms inputting into software. Understanding the basics of accounts and implementation within figures such as graphs as summary. Using macros in excel and accounting software such as R, sage etc. These IT skills I learnt helped me with my course and ability to adapt the techniques I've learnt for my better understanding.
I find my current programme very challenging, although it may not be in my expertises I am seeing how necessary the course I am doing will help with the progression of the future in technology. I have opportunities to explore my career choice not only in this stream but in another field.
When I was there, they had an excellent team to assist my needs both student wise and Staff wise. The financial services sector providing me with the material and support I needed to produce official documentation. Whist the technology sector helped me with debugging issues that I found along the way.
I had monthly rotations which allowed me to explore the different sections they had within the company. Although my programme was based around financial and technological issues within the company, I was allowed to have an overview of all sectors which really demonstrated the ethical code the company stood for.
I had several managers, one each for the different sectors I visited. In addition, I had technical support form staff which have been there for over 15 years. As well as student support from those on longer placements / grad schemes. I was given software which I could either download for home use or provided with a laptop also for home use.
The support from the company included in giving me on hand experience such as opportunities to attend general and annual board meetings as well as conferences dependent on the importance of the projects I was involved in. I would get regular reviews which gave me the opportunity to advance my career (such as allowing me to work after my current programme ended).
My travel was not covered as this was one of the main consumer costs as well as utilities, however if you lived past a certain distance they would provide accommodation free of charge. In addition, if we done a good job or been given appraisal by the clients our team would get a choice of bonuses, trips, and other perks.
After work we got given the opportunity to go on hourly courses after hours if we did not have time during the day. These courses were provided to develop our understanding within computer programming and or techniques on how to solve problems faster. At the ends of every fortnight, some clientèle would provide courses or speeches to enhance our skills.
Yes
I have learnt a lot for the duration of my stay. Even though I had to put in a lot of effort to get up to date, I still find it a valuable experience for any student to go on. The company also gave all Students, regardless of production, a chance to work with them after graduation.
Be truthful to your understanding and willingness to learn. The company bases itself around mortal codes which they hold dearly to every employee. The application is a long and tedious one, but it is worth everyone minute to the effort you put in your application. Make sure you put as much detail as you can.
