My role Drusillas Park was a Zoo Keeper. My daily tasks involved general husbandry of the animals at the park including preparing meals, feeding the animals, and cleaning their enclosures.
It reinforced a hard work ethic for physical labour-based work and gave me a better idea of what a standard full work day was like.
I enjoyed it very much so. Great staff I got to work alongside. They also acted as great teachers during my time there
I felt that the manager was did not care for what I was doing but the rest of the staff seem to appreciate my input.
The training was short and to the point, allowing me to get straight into the routine. I was usually always accompanied by a member of staff when we went to do husbandry related tasks. Overall, an effective programme.
As much as necessary on a day bay day basis if they needed to. Very high quality support also.
The employer was not really involved all that closely with the programme. It was mostly only staff involved.
It was unpaid work so it did not match the costs but I had parental support throughout.
For the duration I was working there the company did not put on any events. I did still have plenty of time after work for my usual activities, meeting friends etc.
Yes
Because it was a fantastic experience that overall benefited me and my general view towards work.
I was readily accepted without the usual formalities other companies tend to require so I their isn't any advice I can really give
