For my work experience my role was that of a production runner. This involved being on a production set from 7-7 most days any doing any tasks that were required of me. This could involve grabbing drinks a snacks for my crew unit, or guiding crew and actors around the set to their required destination.
I have developed many existing skills, moving on from those taught in education and developing the skills required for working in the professional industry. I also learnt new skills, such as working as a unit and abiding by your work roles when needed but still also being able to multitask and do what is necessary.
I enjoyed the experience extremely. I found the work very enjoyable and fulfilling. The team I was working with where incredibly friendly, even when they were extremely higher up than me with their job roles, always offering a hand or an explanation if I needed one. It exceeded my expectations and I would gladly do it again.
I felt very valued in my work experience at Sky. Being a production runner for a period of time, I was always thanked and politely asked when a job was needed. I always felt useful and that I was happy doing my job and working along side my unit and a team as a whole.
The programme was very organised. I was immediately informed about the role and everything it required, and if i was unsure about anything before hand there was always enough support so that I could ask if needed. When I arrived everything was correctly explained and i felt i had a good understanding of what i needed to do.
I received a lot of support when necessary. If I was every unsure about anything, there was always someone I could go to or ask and they would be extremely helpful on keeping me up do date and explain the situation fully to me.
I received a lot of support from my employer Sky. whenever I had any questions or queries I was always helped out and everything was explain to me in a helpful and friendly many. I was guided throughout my whole experience and mentored on how to develop my skills from within the industry.
I was not payed for my work experience, but my travel was completely covered and payed for. And I was even provided with food throughout the day while on set, including all three meals because of the long working days, and snacks whenever wanted. I was very happy with this because it made my work experience extremely worth while
Once I had completed my work experience at Sky I had been frequently emailed multiple times about event days or taster days, with many different opportunities to help further developing my skills for the industry and making connections. These events are always highly organised, very professional and are very enjoyable. I am still emailed about available opportunities when they arise.
Yes
I felt I really felt like I really benefited from the work experience I did at Sky. Helping to further develop my skills within the industry and help me to enquire new skills along side them. The whole experience was a lot of fun and i was very happy with the outcome.
Tips and Advice I would give to others applying to Sky is always be yourself, as a company they defiantly hold a view of their workers as human beings and not robots. And if you are successful with your application don't worry so much about what your first day or induction is going to be like because you'll fit right in straight away and, enjoy yourself, there will alway she someone to help you if you need it.
