Shadowed the senior members of staff in all aspects of the business - facing clients, processing enquiries, monitoring stock. Also was assigned to carry out basic tasks such as filing, photocopying and ordering statioery.
I developed my customer facing skills, and got a better knowledge of customer resource management systems and stock tracking software. Also developed my basic organisational skills with tasks such as filing.
I enjoyed the programme as the staff were very friendly and supportive, and were always willing to share knowledge and pass on ideas to me which I really appreciated.
I felt that Enterprise Rent-A-Car would have been a good employer had I decided to apply for a permanent post, as the company seemed to have a good culture and each department seemed tightly knit.
For the most part the programme was well structured, however inevitably during busy periods my supervisor had to delegate someone else to assign me tasks which took away from the experience somewhat.
My training provider was very supportive of me and spent much of his time trying to give me as good a feel as possible of a role in this particular sector, as well as an insight into his position of assistant manager.
Although my exposure to the employer's support for the staff as a whole felt limited, through the short amount of time I spent there, I felt that the employer was helpful.
Due to it being work experience, the salary was relatively low - however the costs relating to the job were met and left me with some money left over to spend at my leisure.
There were many opportunities to liaise with colleagues outside of working hours and discuss opportunities in the sector, which I found really important when getting experience.
Yes
I felt that the company had a good employee culture - everyone was very welcoming and the opportunities for progression seemed manifold.
My advice to those applying to Enterprise Rent-A-Car would be to keep yourself open and talk to as many people as possible, as there are many opportunities throughout the company and many different things to get involved in.
