  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I was part of the legal department so had to ensure companies were legitimate by checking these on Companies House. I also attended meetings in person and over the phone as well as a conference.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I developed my independence as I tried to find jobs to do when I had finished with the previous job, rather than asking my colleagues who were often busy. I also developed my confidence as I needed to talk with my team to get to know them and work alongside them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme very much as it was a great opportunity to see what the working life was like. My deaoartmebt were very friendly too.

  • I was looked after a lot as I had a specific timetable of events to attend while I was there which made me feel valued and looked after.

  • The programme was very structured due to the timetable of events that they had created for me.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • When doing harder/new tasks like looking up companies on Companies House I was trained prior to this by watching a colleague use it.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was in a different department so although I did go over to this department for a day I didn't always get support as they were not there.

  • I was there for work experience so did not get paid and did not expect to be paid.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I am aware that they had investments for shares but I am not fully aware of all of their schemes or benefits outside of work.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I felt welcomed into the company and the experience I gained has been an eye opener to what work is like and I also gained many skills too that I am grateful for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GSK?
  • It is best to have a department you want to go to then contact the specific department as there are many departments and communication can be lost sometimes in such a big place.
