First year staff/Assistant; complete work relating to audit processes', speaking to team and clients. Complete work on engagements to a first/second year level.
Training for ACA (ICAEW) - external chartered accountant course. Completed 3 internal training as well as online learning teaching you about the job you're expected to complete. Improved interaction with client and senior members of the team, improved understanding of job which has helped the above interaction.
The work is enjoyable as it is never the same, even for the same accounts - each client has different issues etc. The teams are always nice and helpful when explaining the more difficult/strange things that require more experience. The culture is great, always working with different people from different backgrounds, learning about other cultures/lives daily. Exceeded expectations.
Always receive feedback, verbally and written from levels above myself. Always appreciated for the work that you do, as sometimes it isn't the most enjoyable, but one of those jobs that still need to be done. External recognition from the client is nice, always comment on how they enjoy the experience of our interactions as a team. Always feel involved, encouraged to ask for more work, if finished your original tasks.
Extremely organised, have a team dedicated to organising college bookings/exams so you do not have to worry about this. Have a buddy system and counsellor who both understand the experience you are going through, always encouraging to talk to them and discuss any issues etc. Delegation is always present, work plan allocated at start of each engagement, which allows you to ask for more challenging areas of the audit if you want to progress.
Always accessible and online tutoring/website has many learning facilities to aid the training process. Option to speak to tutor via email/ communication on website 24/7.
The buddy and counsellor system allow for a lot of support directly, also the teams on jobs you work with always show an interest in exam progress, and give revision advice and advice for tackling the exams. Managers often give advice on how to get promotions and further develop yourself - personally and professionally.
Salary is good for a school leaver (18/19), also the reimbursable expenses cover the large number of miles travelled - via car or train etc. This minimises the personal costs for yourself while working. Location of clients you work on are usually sorted by location to your home, making travel times less and more enjoyable
Always have social events - winter ball, summer days out etc. these are well publicised around the office and also via email. Teams will also get together for lunches. 2 days per year free from holiday to do charitable work, and also the company matches any money raised for charity.
Yes
Overall, great place to train as an auditor and will also look great on CV, as respectable organisation which will help further develop yourself. If you work hard for the company they will certainly look after you.
Always keep up to date with EY and the financial services, so you know any new developments that you could use in interview - will impress interviewer if you know that they are rebranding etc. Be confident, they don't want someone who will be too nervous to speak to the client as it is a very client facing job.
