I was an audit associate. My daily tasks included tick and ties (comparing two sets of information to find any errors), speaking to the client to get an explanation on the error or variance, obtain and review evidence to support the variances, summarise minutes for meetings, take minutes for internal meetings, set up meetings for team and to roll forward work. There are opportunities to work on other projects such as pursuits but you need to be proactive to get those!
learnt a lot about accounting and auditing. A lot about how to deal with the clients and senior team members. I have learnt to write concisely and directly.
The teams were amazing. the work was interesting (but i can see it getting boring after 3/4 years). EY organised a lot of fun activities to make it an experience to remember.
The teams always value you but as a firm, EY didn't really. They are cutting a lot of their budget on training and recognition rewards.
Everything is planned and structured. So that is quite good because you know exactly what you will be doing on a certain day
They pay for your college!
your immediate team will give you so much support but as a firm, the central functions such as IT/ HR are very slow.
The pay was acceptable definitely not as good as other places (banks etc)
Yeh there are tons going on. like womens network, mental health network, asian network and sports clubs. be proactive!
Yes
Good firm to start on
be yourself. If that doesn't get you the job, you wont have a good time there anyway!
