My work experience took place at a local Vauxhall showroom. I did not have a specific job title as I was given different roles through out the period. My mains roles were advising customer and giving them information on specifications of cars models and cleaning and tiding the showroom so it was in a clean standard. I also also given the opportunity to answer calls from clients.
I have learnt new skills such as how to retain information in a quick period of time. I did when learning the details of the Vauxhall cars. I was given summary sheets of specific car models to memories. This was a difficult task as I had little time to memorize but I achieved this. I also learnt how to communicate with customers in the most efficient way.
I very much enjoyed the experience. I am a very big fan of cars and it was nice to work around them. I has the opportunity to explore the cars in the showroom. This was exciting as I learnt more about the differences in each model of cars. The people who I worked with were very encouraging which helped me feel comfortable.
I felt very valued by Vauxhall. I was given goals to achieve and was given praise when I achieved them. The company made me feel appreciated and the staff supported me during the placement. It was very much a team work atmosphere. We all helped each other to achieve the company goals.
The programme was structured extremely well. The structure and timetable was outlined to me a long period before the starting date. This ensured I knew what to expect when starting the placement. I was given tasks by the manager who supported me during the process. I was given clear instructions throughout the process.
I received an adequate support from the training provider. They provided me which information on how to apply for the role and what the requirements were. They outlined the information in a clear, easily accessible document. I was given contact details so that if I had any issue I could contact them.
I received a great deal of support from my employer. They helped me through the time period and ensured I knew what I was doing. They provided me with help sheet and gave me guidance on how to carry out the work. They also treated me as I was 'part of the team. The work atmosphere was very positive and I enjoyed this support.
I was very looked after by the employers. They ensured that I knew how to travel to the business and helped me with travel arrangements. I was also provided with free lunch with included hot food and cold. The travel costs were very low and I opted to travel by bus. My daily cost included just breakfast and dinner.
There are quite a few opportunities outside of work. Although, I do not have enough time to take part in these opportunities. This is because of work load and other commitments. There a lots of leisure centers across the town which offer may activities such as bowling, paint balling, and fitness training.
Yes
They are a great organisation as well as a successful business. They offer extra opportunities and incentives to their employers. The ethos of the company includes good team work and a positive working atmosphere. The atmosphere allows employers to feel appreciated and allows them to achieve goals. I enjoyed working for the company.
The advice I would give is to build a good working reputation with your employers. This is key to your time across the placement, as this ensures you receive the correct support and enjoy your time there. I would also say that make sure you find out everything about the placement before applying, as this avoids disappointment. I enjoyed my time there and I'm sure others will to.
