I was a part of the audit team in which I had various tasks to do. My line manager was really helpful and although most of my job consisted on collating and analyzing information I was also able to shadow important meetings and take part in audit checks which was really interesting.
This was my first actual job so I learnt many new skills and as I come from a non financial background I had to learn a lot about how things in an investment bank work. I also learnt how to maintain professional relationships and increase my stakeholders. Alongside this I also gained more experience at analytical work and things that require critical thinking
I really enjoyed it and got to experience so many different things and meet so many different people. I initially thought I would hate the fast paced environment in an investment bank but I really loved it and am applying for the graduate scheme soon. Its a great place to work in.
I feel really valued, especially as an intern you'd expect not to be their priority but I got a lot of attention and was constantly given guidance and help and knowledge on how I can improve better. All these led me to feel really valued and constantly a part of the team.
Very well structured. there were many other interns alongside me and although we were placed in different teams there was chances to socialise too. there was lots of learning opportunities within the scheme too and I never felt like I had too much to do or too little and was enough workload.
a lot of support and help. They not only helped me with work related issues but also taught me how to manage my pay and finances and how to claim back things such as travel.
I recieved lots of support from my employer. before I started I received calls about joining and what the team would be like and the expectations of me. Throughout the internship I also received lots of help and support from collagues.
Salary was very good for a student and as the placement was close to my house I incurred no living or travelling expenses. Food was the only thing I would be spending money on.
There was lots of social events and activities and clubs. gym use was also free and there were lots of volunteering opportunities or being able to help out in the charity of the year for the company.
Yes
Friendly, helpful and an environment where you can learn so much and be able to form stakeholders that will be useful contacts in future. also was extremely fun and nothing like the idea I had of investment banks.
Attend the career or uni fair as I got a referral from staff. also assessment centers are hard to do plenty of practice and maths which was my weakest subject, so I did many tests online.
