I'm currently on-going 3 month rotational placements within different areas of the company, my title is Manufacturing Technical Apprentice. This can involve vastly different day-to-day activities, currently they involve testing electronic systems and/or reporting solutions and requirements, and previously in Mechanical Engineering I would typically execute changes to, or design new, design drawings and CAD models/assemblies.
I'm development many skills through my time with Leonardo, e.g. Computer Aided Design, mechanical dis/assembly, electronic/electrical wiring/circuitry and metal component manufacture by machine.
Sometimes there isn't always the most interesting work to be done at times due to business demand, that said I do enjoy my work and would favour my position over many other.
I feel that Leonardo really values their employees, this is shown through continuous training/development, quarterly review, company benefits such as free gym memberships, a good pension scheme and many others.
The programme is fairly structured, obviously it can't be a strict schedule due to different rotational placement and experiences for everyone. I attend college once and work the other four, SVQ3 work is to be maintained by myself along with college and actual work related activities.
For my placement work I'm in contact with my supervisor most days and I feel I can ask for help at anytime from them or another person within the department. For college I can contact my lectures if need be any working day and I see them once a week regardless. You are allocated an SVQ assessor, who I am able to contact any day of the week if I'm in need of any help regarding SVQ work. My apprentice line manager, or the rest of the apprentice management team, can always be contacted regarding any problem I may encounter, or if I'm seeking guidance/leniency.

My salary is a competitive one for an apprenticeship, I support a shared flat and my car easily and it will increase annually throughout my apprentice ship.
There is numerous opportunities to volunteer/work outside of working times, this could be apprenticeship events, days out, outside company training/visits, traveling for work opportunities but are rare, nights out, etc...
Yes
Because I believe it is a leading deal for apprentice ship, I can learn on the job and I come out of it with impressive qualification and a potential job offers from the company's departments.
Try be honest yet impressive, work hard, enjoy the time and don't slack.
