I'm currently in a software testing role. On a day to day basis I will create opticians prescriptions, to test for a Boots project. I do this to make sure all frames, lenses are in the new system and also check for any defects.
I have learnt a lot whilst doing this role. One of the main skills needed to do this job is managing excel spreadsheets to make sure all the testing number are up to date. By doing this, I know exactly how many tests I have done, how many tests are left to do and how many tests passed/failed. This has also help with my organisation skills so I'm prepared for when I go into meetings.
This has been a very enjoyable experience for me. I have met a lot of welcoming, friendly colleagues.
I feel very valued as an apprentice by Boots as I know how much time and money has gone into my developent with them.
My programmes structure is well organised. We had a set plan at the start of our apprenticeship which we're still following over a year and a half later. There were some delays in our training which made me struggle doing my role however I understood these delays were not Boots' fault.
My training provider offered lots of help and support, I was made clear at the start of my apprenticeship that if we hafd any problems with work etc. to give them a call or send an email and they would be able to help us asap.
My employer is always very helpful, whenever I have concerns at work I know my employer can always be available to help.
I am content with how much I get paid to do my job as well as all the training being funded by Boots.
Whilst being at Boots I haven't looked at any other opportunities outside my workplace.
Yes
Boots is a good company to work for as they care for their colleagues and always put the health and safety of colleagues/customers first.
There are many, many roles for you within Boots, is you dont get the job/role you would like first time, apply for different areas because once you get you foot in the doorstep you can progress as much as you like.
