I am an engineering apprentice for BMW group, I am currently at college full time learning both theory and practical aspects of engineering. As an apprentice I am currently responsible for completing both written and practical assessments to set deadlines.
I have learnt both new skills and developed existing skills picked up through previous work experience, the areas which i feel my skills have most improved in is within the theory elements of the subject for example my knowledge of maths and electrical theory have increased.
On a day to day basis the programme is generally enjoyable i enjoy completing practical assessments and progressing through the course.
I feel valued by the company as we have regular reviews with our apprenticeship program manager where are progress is monitored and recognised,
The induction at company was well organised and structured, the training is reasonably well structured however there have been issues at the college with lessons been moved around and no teachers for certain subjects.
A good amount of support is given by the training provider, our group has a course tutor assigned who is available to discuss any problems with if required.
A good amount of support is given by the employer, our apprenticeship program managers can be contacted any time with issues and we have regular reviews with our manager where support is given.
The salary package is appropriate for the level i am at within the apprenticeship and covers mys costs.
There are opportunities outside of work such as family fun days and charity initiatives a fuller understanding of the opportunities outside of work will be gained when i am back in the workplace.
Yes
I would recommend BMW Group apprenticeships to a friend as you will gain useful skills and qualifications to further your career while earning a good wage.
The advice i would give is just to answer all questions during the application process honestly and just to put maximum effort into the process and you will get something out of the process.
