I am an advanced apprentice currently studying electrical however my daily tasks don't involve much as there are long waits between tasks due to poor organisation from both BAE and BABCOCK.
I have achieved a silver passport to production and an IOSH qualification whilst developing my practical skills in the workshop and my theory in the classroom with BABCOCK.
The overall program is enjoyable and the people I have met have worked well and operated well in a team, however due to the work being limited and infrequent it often becomes boring and non enjoyable
I would say the organisation and structure of the programme is poor and requires a large overhaul
the support from BABCOCK is often greatly appreciated and is always available
From the training instructors I receive a lot of support
As I travel a considerable amount to and from work each day (4 hours each day in total) it comes to nearly a quarter of my monthly earnings, this combined with living costs, I find myself struggling to save money at the end of each month, however with the prospect of an inevitable pay increase each year it should hopefully become a lot more sustainable for me in the future
There are very little company events/activities that are available to me and when they are arranged they are often done so by other apprentices feeling the need to go around management in order for them to happen.
Yes
.
Be very wary of the lack of communication and often treated unequally amongst the different trades with some receiving more opportunities than others
