Mechanical apprentice Learning in the classroom and gaining the knowledge needed to proceed with jobs. recently we have spent some time in the workshop which was very enjoyable.
Yes I have learnt a wide range of fitting techniques which will be very useful in the future. I have also learnt how to operate some of the more common machine tools which I enjoy massively. I also have developed my mathematics greatly and now feel competent in performing a wide range of operations.
I have enjoyed everything I have done so far.
I do feel valued by BAE although sometimes it seem that my trade is not as recognised as others and I worry that this could have a detrimental effect on my employment prospects.
I think my induction and training have been organised well. However there are long gaps sometimes between delivery and this can get annoying. Also we get told that we will be doing an activity only for it to be cancelled immediately or soon after.
From a training aspect I feel BAE provide adequate support in the activities that we do. The Babcock instructors provide excellent support for all the activities that we do with them. The Babcock and BAE instructors are also very approachable. I have enjoyed my training so far.
I am aware support is available however I have had no need of it so far.
As an apprentice I feel the salary meets my costs well.
There have been some opportunities planed however most of these have been cancelled. However I was able to participate in some overtime which was very fun.
