My job title is an apprentice mechanical fitter. we are normally in the classroom learning the theory side to mechanical jobs or learning the required knowledge from health&safety, maths etc.
I have learnt new skills with the machines and tools I have used.
I have enjoyed the practical side of our job and working on tasks which are new to me. However I believe the time within the classroom has dragged and we do not get enough time to develop our practical skills.
I believe we are valued and we are treated well with the task we do. However, because of the age gap between the apprentices, the younger apprentices miss out on opportunities. Also I believe that my trade is treated differently to others.
poorly organised programme. We spend a large amount of time with no work.
Babcock instructors are good with teaching us what we need to know. They also support us whenever we need help. BAE instructors are also good with teaching us the practical side to our job. However, they are not as useful as babcock instructors.
I personally have had no support as I haven't needed it but I know that any support from my employer or HR team is there if I ever need it.
I believe that the salary is sufficient for the job I do.
There are many opportunities outside of work. Our employer has mentioned many opportunities but she hasntfollowed through on any of these activities.
Yes
I believe this job has so much to offer and the knowledge and experience you take away from this apprenticeship cant be learnt anywhere else.
Be yourself within the interview and if you get the job as BAE is a good company and you can learn a lot if you are just with yourself.
