I am a Quantity Surveying Apprentice. My current daily tasks include contract management and procurement. I work closely with commercial managers and engineers within my team and meet with contractors on regular site visits.
I am working towards my apprenticeship qualification and my Associate RICS application. I have also had the opportunity to go on many internal training courses that have helped improve my skills at work e.g. Excel training & Negotiation skills.
I thoroughly enjoy my time at work, always having the opportunity to learn new skills and work in different departments. I work in a very friendly environment and everyone is willing to help.
I feel like an important member of my team and am given a huge amount of responsibility. Both my placement manager and apprenticeship scheme manager give me regular feedback and praise when deserved.
The structure of my programme is good. We had an induction when first joining with apprentices from all schemes. There is a clear hierarchy and it is always clear who you need to report to/talk to if you need guidance. I have regular meetings with my mentor who is very interested in how I am getting on.
I have regular review meetings with my training provider who checks on how I am getting on in both my college and my workplace. There is time before our college workshops in which we can ask our tutors any questions we have who are always happy to help.
I find that all managers, colleagues and mentors are always happy to support you in whatever you need and will point you in the right direction if they cant help you themselves.
Pay is sufficient. Travel is covered by the employer.
There are many opportunities that through the staff benefits website.
Yes
They are a great company to work for and are very supportive through the apprenticeship. They offer a huge amount of opportunity and there is no lack of placement option across the estate.
Practice the online Maths & English exams before taking them in the application. Don't be afraid to ask for a moment to think during the interview process as its better to give a good answer than a rushed one.
