We have 6 month role rotations. At this point in time my role in Information Security involves managing cyber projects. Part of my business as usual is managing the implantation of DMARC on the banks domains. I get to attend internal and external meetings to see how different processes are managed.
Yes. I have developed my communication skills, both written and spoken. I have learnt how to use excel to an advanced level. I have also leant how to be professional in the workplace from mannerisms to work style.
The corporate culture is create and uplifting with a focus on helping people with difficult tasks. This exceeded my expectations as I was originally quite terrified.
Very, Santander works very hard to make us feel valued. There have been two opportunities to meet the CEO so far. They also create opportunities where we can present the work we are doing to senior members of the board so we can build a rapport. They are also increasing the importance of our projects as we go along.

If we need help with anything there is a clear hierarchy of who to ask for what. We have line managers, apprentice managers and a degree manager for support and mentorship and meetings occur at least once a month. We have 4 clear workdays with Fridays as study days with a booked meeting room for the apprentices.
The tutors answer all emails within 48 work hours but allow questions at the end of our bi-weekly webinars. We also have a virtual learning environment so we can access our school material 24/7.

The salary is £17,000 and while this is not a lot after tax (around £14,000) when living alone is well above average apprenticeships , and what other people my age receive. Living in Leicester this is defiantly a beyond reasonable amount in comparison to other areas in the UK. There is also a clear progression path for salary due to increase during our apprenticeship.
We are given community days so we can volunteer with charities as a team. There are also networking communities to bring people together. They also offer an official mentorship program.
Yes
It is a great working environment. There are also many opportunities for self-improvement. No matter your current role there are also advancement opportunities within the company.
Be confident and be yourself. Santander has 9 key behaviours that staff are encouraged to demonstrate those clearly then you will show that you belong in their corporate culture.
