IBM has a set of world class technical apprenticeship.I clearly learned a lot from my time there. The best part was the interview processes which are very thorough and itself require a good amount of preparation.I currently work as an IT specialist and am employed in software testing, debugging, and updating such software while doing 2-3 projects with a specially assigned team.
I improved my coding skills in Java since there is a very potent need to use it.I also have brushed my JavaScript and concepts of SQL which I have to use day-to-day.I have also developed better communication skills and most of all have learnt how to work within a team and create a co-operative and better work environment.
The programme gives a very stress-free and joyful environment. One of the best things about working for IBM is the constant challenges I faced during having to complete the various projects which helped me learn and grow my potential. The other good thing is working with a team which is professional and hard-working but at the same time very supportive and friendly which made my my experience there worthwhile
Yes,I felt valued by IBM every single step of the way.Though all the apprentices are sorted in teams, every single employee has their own special area of expertise and are consulted accordingly when the need arises and rewarded consequently.Everybody works together but has an individual contribution to make at the same time.
The training and studying for a specific programme at IBM goes hand in hand.Every team had a team leader and a project head depending upon the different expertise of different employees on various projects. The testing had to be carried out according to the tasks distributed by the team leader but the ideas from all the individuals were entertained in the meetings and creative sessions we had.
The training provider constantly mentored and reviewed my work by providing necessary feedback when the results weren't as expected. All of my queries and problems were constantly answered and I thrived to learn and explore more as a result.I was heavily supported in my work and the best part was that I was constantly applauded and appreciated whenever I worked well. All my queries with various programming languages such as Java and SQL were attended to very enthusiastically.
The manager was an active member of our working experience and was very supportive of our needs for better resources and environment. The entire HR team was very supportive and had constant interventions to ensure a healthy working environment between all the members of our team and other colleagues as well as as our superiors and managers.
The initial package was lower than what I expected but then again there were tons of opportunities to learn and expand the growth as an individual.I got better at a lot of technical skills which apparently helped me later. The salary increased later on after I worked there for about 6 months and the bonus makes it worth it and more eventually.
The environment at IBM is very light and fun filled. There are many company sponsored events and activities that one can join and enjoy. There are opportunities for entertainment too.We had many people in our team organized into a football team which would often play against other members of the company organized into similar teams.Though the company offers many activities for leisure, there are many we employees organize among ourselves.
Yes
It provides a novel working experience with opportunities to grow both as a person and a working individual. The working environment is relaxed and hence helps in accepting more challenges and overcoming it.It has the latest technology accommodated with the latest software trends and competing with other industries.
The selection procedure consists of an aptitude test which later leads to a telephonic interview.Only a few selected individuals which pass both the aptitude test and the telephonic interview with a minimum cutoff are then invited to undergo a face-to-face interview which tests technical as well as interpersonal skills.
