Dependant on what department you are located in the day to day involvement can vary. Needless to say there is always something to do and you are always involved with daily tasks. I am based on an Ellipta Packaging line. Our job is to keep the machine running with a high output and as little ejects as possible. When the line breaks down or has issues, it is the job of the technician to go onto line and fix this.
Throughout the course of my apprenticeship here at GSK so far I have learnt and developed many skills. To name some of the training courses I have been on: -Motion Control -Electrical Maintenance -Mechanical Maintenance -17th Edition -PLC Fault Finding + Programming -Steam Boiler Safety As you can see from the above courses there is a lot of learning to be done which was thoroughly enjoyed and can be applied day to day within the workplace
I love working for GSK, its a great company to work for and all the people you work alongside with are really great and helpful towards you whenever you are in need. The company as a whole will greatly exceed your expectations. GSK will support you throughout and you will benefit greatly from all the support, training and benefits you will recieve
As an apprentice you would think you would not be valued as much as a full time technician however here at GSK you are very much valued and included in all day to day tasks. Once experienced with the knowledge behind you, you are able to be the technician that fixes the lines knowing that if you do need some assistance there will always be someone there to help
The programme is very well structured. You will be rotated round various different departments, alongside studying at a local college, gaining external qualifications and knowledge needed to move up the ladder within GSK. You will be able to take time to study where needed and will know well in advanced if there is a training you need to attend or if you are due to change department
Support is available 24/7 on site - there is never a time when you are alone unless you want to be and 100% sure you know what you are doing. Everyone is very happy to help you and wont question your knowledge, just be happy to share advice and knowledge. I love where I work, its a great place and there is always a good vibe in the workplace.

The salary at GSK is very good and will meet all your financial needs. Any costs to do with your job will be paid for which includes parking at the college. GSK is very local to me with only a 7 minute drive away which makes it very accessible for me to get to
There are lots of events that take place at GSK which you get the chance to partake in, including a yearly outward bounds trip to where you are put into groups with apprentices from all round the country. Talking about the apprenticeship in schools is something that happens often and again if you desire to, you will get the chance to lead one of these events
Yes
Its a great place to work, the company as a whole is brilliant and what they actually do is great - its a good feeling to know what you're doing is helping someone out further down the line. The salary and benefits are great and all the people you will work with will support you throughout your time as an apprentice.
Include all experiences, DofE and work experience is good. Attend the open evenings, talk to all apprentices and manager and gather as much knowledge from them as you can. Contact us to find out anything you may wish to know. Stay calm, don't put anything stupid on your application. Make sure before the interview you know a bit about the company and anything to do with the apprenticeship you may be wanting to do.
