  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Higher Apprentice - One Global Mobility I work in the global mobility team which originates from a focus on expatriate personal tax compliance but has expanded and diversified into providing wide ranging tax compliance services for companies who operate internationally. This role is client facing, with constant contact with clients and their employees, as well as consistent internal collaboration and consultation. As a higher apprentice responsibilities vary from preparing tax returns, tax advice, as well as interacting with clients and their employees with queries they have and meeting and managing their expectations.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure is clear however I do feel more time could be given for studying as not all of the course is covered in college time. The exams are difficult and it can be problematic to meet e-assessment deadlines where taking a resit of an exam and juggling diploma with exam revision.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The team I work in is very supportive and understanding of course commitments as well as my regular work commitments. Managers happily take time to offer guidance and support and I feel that there is always someone available to help through difficult tasks. As stated before a bit more time to study outside of college to cover additional chapters would be appreciated but the additional time for diploma work is really useful and readily available.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It's sufficient for a student just leaving school. On the starting salary it would be difficult to meet all living costs if living on own etc but a house share would be more than sustainable or living at home.

    9/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There is an office social club that meets monthly as well as sports clubs.

    8/10

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Ensure you're aware of upcoming changes in industry and fine out how the business side of a hobby or topic of interest operates (i.e. football look at how clubs make money etc).
