I am an Assistant Associate in Real Estate Tax at Deloitte. My daily role involves due diligence, writing structure papers and reports, as well as learning and regular training to help to expand my skills portfolio.
During my time on the Brightstart Scheme at Deloitte, I study over a 5 year period towards my ACA qualification, after which I will be fully qualified as a Chartered Accountant. This position has developed my understanding of the real estate world, and I have learnt new skills involving client interaction and the tax world in more detail.
I enjoy the workplace and the team I work with very much, and feel that each person involved in the real estate tax department works well together. I enjoy working in the office, and the company culture is indeed that you work until the job is completed, rather than the official end of the working day. Although it can be a lot of work, I enjoy this as it highlights the importance of the role I play and the work that I am completing. I feel that it has met my expectations and enjoy work most of the time.
I feel valued by Deloitte as I have had several positive comments and positive feedback from my appraisal manager and colleagues. I feel that I can contribute well to tasks.
I feel the programme is very well structured as I know how I will progress and how to get to the next step in the journey to becoming qualified.
I am tutored for the ACA by Kaplan and they are brilliant at delivering and teaching the course, and most tutors are very happy to answer questions and offer additional support.
If there is ever anything I need there is always someone at Deloitte on hand to ask for help, I couldn't ask for more.
My salary is a competitive and satisfying one, however travel costs to work account for 37% and rent accounts for 14%, leaving me just half for all other living costs, but this is mainly down to the commute from the southeast, although without a doubt it would be more expensive to live in London, so this is something that could be looked into.
There are neither many nor few, a satisfactory amount.
Yes
Deloitte is a very highly regarded firm and I believe that opportunities after working here and becoming qualified are exceptional.
I would recommend that if applying the best thing is just to be honest and passionate, and never ever be generic. Show more how you can help Deloitte, rather than thinking how Deloitte can help you.
