Job Title - Higher Apprentice Daily Tasks - Preparing Tax Returns, Emailing Clients, Working with different clients surrounding different projects. Daily Interactions Internally - Client Meetings, Emails, Face to Face, Instant Messaging. Daily Interactions Externally - Emails, Telephone, Letters. Responsibilities - As much or as little as I like, I am always pro-active and know where to look if I want to give myself a new challenge. This can be working on new clients, manipulating certain data, going to certain events representing the firm.
The phrase learning something new everyday is excellent within the firm. I always seem to learn through my everyday job role and through the training we are regularly provided. Some examples of what I have learnt are; manipulation of data on excel, how to respond effectively to taxpayers through email and being able to speak in front up crowds.
I enjoy the programme immensely. It is exactly what I have been looking for. It is a job where I am continuously challenged and does not get boring. The team is excellent and if any of us are having difficulty then we go out of our way to help eachother. We have a good work ethic in our team.
I have worked within various job roles within different companies. This is the first time I have felt valued. This is generally seen from emails praising the work I produced or being mentioned in meetings or even being taken to lunch. It may be small things at times but the thought it there and that's all I need to see that I am being valued.
Programme is very well structured. Plenty of time to get comfortable in job role. Days for training are out nicely and dates for exams are given well in advance. There are no nasty surprises when it comes to the programme.
Training Provider is good. We get plenty of days to get out of the office and learn various materials. If they are unable to help, there is certainly access to a variety of other networks from which we can gather support.
Excellent support network through Managers, People Managers, our colleagues in office, our compliance Managers in other offices and our buddies who help us out to ensure we have a pleasant time within the firm.
It's a Higher Apprenticeship so it's an understandly low wage as we are getting our exams paid for. Travel costs are quite high for me but due to this, I have a manageable living cost. Social costs, I don't seem to spend so much on. So salary overall gets me by barely.
Yes, we are always away on company events for the latest tax issues or we have a Tax away day where we learn some tax and have fun with team building sessions. There are also career events where school leavers will represent the firm to show how great the firm actually is. The firm also supports running club, a social committee and even various charity works. There is plenty to be getting on with inside the firm.
