My day to day role consists of tying back information, carrying out re-performance of client rec's and generally checking that the amounts stated within the financial statements of a client are of true and fair value. As a 1st year associate I get involved with a lot of the admin processes
So many skills have been learnt since beginning the apprenticeship. This includes how to sufficiently carry out and audit. I am also extremely impressed with my level of excel usage as I am not able to quickly use short cuts and get my way around excel a lot quicker which is an amazing skill to have.
I enjoy the programme a lot I have made several lifelong friendships and continue to do so. I made the right choice not going to university and I hope to carry on enjoying EY and hopefully stay for a long time ! meeting several different people and networking with a lot of people around the world.
Very valued but slightly not enough. I feel like I am noticed but my hardwork may be hidden by those with extremely loud personalities who steal all the sunshine. the thing at EY is facetime seems to be more preferred than efficient hard work. and those who have no life are willing to stay till midnight doing little but just to show their face.
The programme is extremely well structured it seems like everyone knows exactly what they're doing and the next 5 years have been well planned out with timings and exams and other things. The programme is set and everything you need to know has been confirmed properly so there is no need to worry.
Kaplan is extremely helpful however I wish they would tell us a bit more about other opportunities available outside of college time such as evening classes to get a bit more help on topics we may not understand. apart from this the tutors provide their contact details which is helpful and we can email them when needed.
The support system at EY could undoubtedly be a lot better however there is always someone there to assist you with all you worries and people are genuinely willing to listen to you there is also a counselling process which allows you to know who to go to when you have a problem.
My Salary package is exceptional for someone of my age. My travel expenses amount to around £200 a month and any extra's I have to pay to get to client site can be expenses and paid within a couple working days. I am able to save a significant amount towards getting a house and for my personal usage.
There are several groups within EY who take part in external activities such as the dodgeball and netball team who meet up and compete every week. There is also a social available if not every week every couple of weeks. There are also a lot of activities held such as the summer meet up and Christmas ball.
Yes
Because it is an amazing opportunity available to many and to be so young in such an environment is truly mesmerizing and should be something a lot of people should aspire to do as it is a very looked upon qualification achieved by the end and completely worth the time which I would recommend to anyone and everyone.
Within the interview process the best thing to do is to be yourself and don't look at google for advise on how to approach the interviewing process also stay calm on the day and just do the best you can. If you have any family members who are within the professional industry maybe ask them to give you a practice interview and ask them what they would be looking for when employing someone.
