  • I discuss with the client what is required to perform the audit and how I can obtain evidence and document the evidence to substantiate the information in the client's accounts.

  • I have much better people skills as I interract with the EY and client team a lot to discuss progress and technical points.

  • There is a huge variety of tasks and clients and EY teams I work with which makes it more enjoyable

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EY?
  • Rewards and recognition are slow and infrequent. When they are given it's usually for the whole team rather than to recognise specific outstanding performance from one individual.

  • I can discuss any concerns with my counsellor or colleagues whenever I need/want support.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The programme is 5 years and exams are well spread over the 5 years so it isn't too much at once. Tutors are knowledgeable and responsive.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I can discuss concerns/issues with my counsellor or colleagues, usually these are resolved swiftly.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I have been able to move out and travel costs are reimbursed, however this is only after 2 pay rises.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • As I am working in different places each week availability is a key issue when trying to attend opportunities outside of work. EY makes a moderate effort to encourage this.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall it is the best of the big four accounting firms in my opinion, because of the diversity and inclusiveness factors and also work life balance.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Be yourself and expect exams to be a challenge.
