I assist in running the accessories channel for after-sales marketing. I have to contact our marketing agencies to brief ideas for new marketing material to be used in the showrooms which includes leaflets, brochures, accessory displays and other point of sale items. I also have to organise accessories for photo-shoots and shows, and deal with other accessories queries. I also am apart of the showroom standards for after-sales which involves setting the standards for the Vauxhall retailers to comply to.
I have gained an understanding of the car industry, particularly in accessories. I have been able to develop my organisational skills from having to organise parts of the channel and allocate time when to do specific tasks. I have also developed my verbal and non-verbal communication skills as I have to contact many retailers, agencies and colleagues.
This is my second year at Vauxhall and i have enjoyed my time here so far.
Vauxhall does make me feel valued as i have an important job that needs to be filled. My manager does give me recognition when i have performed well. In my role this year i have been given a lot of responsibility. I am always included in projects within my team and have my own projects I am running. Also I have the opportunity to go off site to experience different areas of the business.
Our apprenticeship programme is currently going through changes due the the apprenticeship levy, therefore there has been a lack of structure. However, once this is sorted I think that there will be more organisation and structure. The HR department do try to keep the apprentices updated on any changes in the programme.
We attend Bedford college to complete a HNC in business administration. This year it has not been good as there has been issues with the teaching staff. As we are only there once a week it is hard to get help from the tutors but you are able to email them, but they may not always reply. Vauxhall know we have had issues with the college and have now tried to resolve them.
I receive good support from Vauxhall. I always feel like I can contact HR if i have a query. My team has made me feel welcome and I feel comfortable asking them for help if needed. As said in the question above, Vauxhall have been supportive to help resolve the issues that we have had from our training provider.
The salary is good for an apprenticeship compared to other companies. Our wage increases every year of the apprenticeship as yo gain experience.
In my role last year i was based at a different site and did not have much opportunity to do out of work activities, however this year I have been given more opportunities. Internal communcations organises different activities for employees to get involved with, such as bubble football. As we sponsor the home nations there is also opportunities to win football tickets.
Yes
I recommend doing an apprenticeship at Vauxhall as you get do a proper job with responsibility whilst earning a salary, and getting your education payed for.
Lots of people apply for the apprenticeship so you need to make sure your CV is good and stands out. Also practice for interviews.
