As a design engineer I carry out duties that involve the creation or amendment of designs under mentorship I have also been involved the record returns processes which are to be carried out once a project is complete.
I have gained skills in learning how to use CAD software as well as being able to communicate effectively within a team.
I thoroughly have enjoyed the programme so far each year has been different from the first year at college full time to now where I work in the office four days and college one day a week.
I feel extremely valued by Siemens, I receive praise from members of staff for my work and as staff we continuously get emails from Siemens thanking the members of staff.
The organization of this apprenticeship has been carried out well, all courses have been pre planned well in advance and the trainee department continuously communicates with us to ensure we are aware of the current plans.
I receive a good amount of support from by training provider, their is usually someone you can communicate with if you have any issues.
I receive a great deal of support from my employer they allow for 0.5 days per month for personal development and are more than happy to help deal with any queries I have.
my salary does currently meet my costs however I travel 1 hour each way a day and my outgoings are quite high
the company sends a variety of emails containing opportunities for out of work activities.
Yes
Because it a widely recognized company that makes you feel comfortable to work for and has a very positive environment to work in, it also provides great opportunities for the future.
I would advise that if you are applying for Siemens that you should be truthful on your applications forms and CVS as it is important that the company can see who you are as a person, do something that makes you stand out (volunteering, be confident but not arrogant in your interview. I would have liked to have been given a better insight into the job role prior to the interview so I could have been more confident when answering rail related questions as it is difficult to find the information on the internet.
