I am employed at Virgin as a apprentice network engineer. My day to day role includes fixing any faults we may have come in with our network as well as completing maintenance tasks to ensure we are limiting the possibility of any faults arising.
I have improved my team working skills as well as talking to customers as we have to interact with customers quite often. I have also learnt how to manage my time a lot better since doing this job.
I really enjoy working for Virgin. We have a lot of work to do and its very important that we get it done to the best of our ability and we work as efficiently as possible. However, there is a very good work life balance and the team I work with are very supportive and are always willing to help.
Very. I feel everything they offer us as employees are fair, such as holiday, pay and the benefit packages.
At first it seemed to be planned out really well and seem to have a specific structure to it. However as it has gone on, although im not saying this is a bad thing, we haven't necessarily followed the program how we originally planned. As time has one on, I have had the opportunity to do something that may have not been planned for me to do until later on in the program.
As much as I require. He is only a phone call away and checks up on me each week to make sure im getting on ok.
Again, as much as I require. I know that anyone I need to help me will be there to help when I ask them.
As an apprentice I feel that im paid well. I don't think there are many other companies that would pay the salary im on for a apprentice - Which makes me want to work for the company even more so and make sure that im putting in as much effort as possible.
When I started I was told that we get the opportunity to do a lot of charity events, however (and im not sure if this is my own fault), I haven't heard anything about any events so would be good to find out what we have to offer as a company.
Yes
I feel the rate of pay, the people employed by Virgin and the work life balance makes Virgin one of the best companies I could work for. Not only that, but the access to support that's available I feel is very good.
Make sure you are polite with whoever you come into contact with. I found that although qualification hold some importance, the way you portray yourself is more important to them. Make sure to ask any questions you may have and even "turn" your interview round on the interviewer if needs be if it means that you get the answers your after.
