Coordinating, testing and executing disaster recovery practises with IT for Mainframe, I-series and Mid Range (server based) services
Developed existing skills, but enhanced my knowledge
Apprenticeship programme was quite poorly organised at first, but did improve. It was great working within team to help complete my apprenticeship and great mentoring others to do so. We got sold promises that weren't kept at the stat though and that has tainted my view on the apprenticeship programme
Going through IT Transformation programme where everyones jobs are being outsourced. Cant get a promotion (which was promised), no real sign of being able to progress. Don't feel valued by HSBC as a whole at all
Pretty poor to begin with, then it got a lot better, but we had 6 months of doing nothing on the apprenticeship programme.
At the start none. when new tutor came in, it was better but was still only one person, which meant their time was at a premium. Think they changed this for future intakes
Manager and the teams I have worked in have been great, lots of support and understood the apprenticeship scheme and how much work was needed
As said before, we got promised a promotion (which hasn't happened), getting a promotion is just about impossible. I can just about get by on my wage. But that involves walking to work every day and stripping back on other things that could be deemed necessary
Play football regularly with people outside of work, theres social things to do with teams.
No
At this moment in time I would not recommend HSBC to a friend. This is down to job security, not a sniff at promotion, its hard to plot your career with HSBC, which is why a lot of apprentices have left.
Experience in other works, strong work ethic and enthusiasm are key to being a success at HSBC, so make sure that comes across in your Interviews
