Scholarship Intern working in Financial Services Performance Improvements. Worked in Insurance in first week, Retail banking in second and Enterprise Performance Management in third. Wide variety of tasks including formatting, creating and reviewing slides and spreadsheets as well as conducting research and taking part in meetings and conference calls.
I have greatly improved a number of skills in both talking and working with different people and in the work that I produce. We received lots of feedback as we went along which helped us to improve during our time there.
I found my time spent at EY both interesting and enjoyable, having worked on a large variety of tasks and having met lots of different people.
I felt extremely well-valued during my internship. Everybody was very happy to give up time to talk to me and looked after me very well. It was very well organised and so we were kept busy throughout with lots of things to do on which we received regular feedback.
We received three days of training at the start of our internship, including an IT day during which we learnt all about the software that EY use. We were assigned each a buddy and a mentor, who were there for any questions. We were assigned to a new team each week who always had lots of things to keep us busy.
We received three days of training, during which we did lots of fun activities to help us get to know the other people and to improve business skills. We also had an IT day during which we logged on to the system and to the mail and learnt about printers, phones and more. We also received some basic instruction in the use of Microsoft Excel.
Everybody at EY was extremely friendly and always happy to help with any problems or queries that we might have. We were also assigned both a buddy and a counsellor, with whom I met to discuss the internship, life at EY and my future career aspirations.
I stayed at home during the period which meant that living costs were low however I incurred significant cost in commuting, roughly £55 per week. However, this was easily covered by the generous pay of roughly £400 per week. All of the social events and the hotel that I stayed in for two nights were all paid for already which was great.
We had lots of social events during the three-week period that I very much enjoyed. I wasn't there long enough to experience some of the items listed.
Yes
They look after you really well and it's a great way to get into a great company.
The applications process is quite rigorous but very worthwhile because it is a fantastic programme that really sets you on course for an excellent career.
