  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was customer team leader. From day to day I used the till and served customers, helped them with their shopping, clean ups, stocking the shelves was the main task I did. I did back stock for the stock and was responsible for a certain area of the shop to have full shelves. Sometimes I was able to reduce the price of almost out of date things.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I dont have any additional qualifications but I have work experience in talking to and serving customers now.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was a very enjoyable experience. The people I worked with were all very nice and i spet some time with some of them outside of work. The co op is a really nice place to work, the training procedure is slow and boring though, although necessary and thourough.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Co-op?
  • My manager always praised where praise was due. There were one or two team leaders that didnt value my opinion or listen to me when i found a different way that was more efficient in my opinion, but overall i felt valued and part of the team

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Lots of training and lots of support, sometimes tasks took too long so the later staff would have to work harder to catch up which didnt seem great to me but it all worked itself out

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • New starters were given a buddy and this really helped me, it was enjoyable training

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Everyone i worked for was really friendly and i wasnt scared to ask how to do something if i didnt know

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I live close so travel isnt a worry. I lived with my parents at the time so living costs was a minimum but i was able to afford nights out and had a lot to spare too, it would be a livable wage had i not been living with my parents

  • There were lots of comminity type activities we could get involved with but i didnt participate

  • Yes

  • A really reliable, honest company to work for


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • dont be nervous in an interview as they are all very nice. Relax a bit more, and its not the end of the world if something goes wrong just try your best
