I am an associate at PwC, I am training to be an accountant and working with clients every day - this involves auditing financial statement for FTSE companies and being part of a global firm. I am responsible for my own parts of the audit which gives me significant responsibility.
I am on a steep learning curve at PwC however every day is different; some days I learn by being taught in college however on others I gain on the job training with clients and colleagues at PwC. I also learn from internal training courses which provide me with a detailed insight into the day to day activities of PwC and help me learn and develop as an auditor.
I enjoy the challenges I face on a day to day basis, this involves working with many different people and getting to know new friends. Company culture at PwC is great and everyone is friends within the office; we often go out on social events to ensure we have sufficient downtime from work.
At PwC I already feel like an important member of the team; with a high level of responsibility I can provide a service to our clients and help meet their needs. This is recognised internally by our team leader, externally by our clients and exam board which leads to a foot in the doorway for a future career at PwC.
The school leaver programme at Pwc is of high quality and well organised; there is a specific team which deals with any possible queries which any of us may have and also we have regular meetings to see how the programme can be improved upon for coming years. Support has been of high quality throughout my time at PwC so far and I have been lucky enough to pass 4 exams so far. We have regular mentor meetings to track our progress and give us short term targets in our day to day working environment.
I am training towards an ACA qualification with the ICAEW; I am provided with training assistance from my teaching provider Kaplan and they provide me with substantial assistance in required areas.
PwC provide me with great support and any of my colleagues are pushed to help new joiners in this respect.
It is a fair reflection of the work I perform considering my experience and qualification costs.
There are a wide range of opportunities outside work ranging from sport to business activites helping the firm, charities and anyone inbetween.
Yes
PwC are a fair employer who provide their staff with significant duty of care in all aspects of day to day life.
Advice would start at carrying out background research of the firm to ensure you know what the firm does, followed by this ensure you research your day to day role at PwC and have significant examples of prior experience to back this up.
